Three suspects arrested in Hampton shooting case

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – Three men wanted in connection with a shooting in the parking lot of the Kecoughtan Shopping Center last week are now in custody.

The investigation into the shooting revealed the three suspects were in a vehicle together with the victims, when they got in an argument, which escalated into gunfire, according to Corporal Mary Shackelford.

Three men in their 20s were shot. The 21-year-old victim remains hospitalized.

Police arrested Raghib Brooks, 23, the day after the shooting and charged him with one count aggravated malicious wounding, one count maiming, one count use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, one count possession with the intent to distribute narcotics and one count discharging a firearm in a public place. Calvin Hockaday Jr. was also arrested Friday, on robbery charges.

The third suspect, identified as 20-year-old Benny Garcia Jr., was arrested Monday night. He’s been charged with robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and conspiracy to commit a felony.
