SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Suffolk Police say a pizza delivery driver has been charged after reporting a robbery that didn’t happen.

Mitchel William Nesselrode, 22, was charged with filing a false police report, according to Diana Klink with the city of Suffolk.

Klink said Nesselrode told police he was robbed around 8:30 p.m. Thursday night in the 5000 block of Sportsman Boulevard while delivering pizza for Atlas Pizza. He told officers he was stopped at a train crossing when he was approached by a man and robbed of cash.

After investigating the report further, police determined Nesselrode had fabricated the robbery. Klink said the investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be filed.
