NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Some students at Tidewater Community College now have some extra cash to put towards their school costs.
The ACCESS College Foundation awarded seven T.C.C. students at a special scholarship awards luncheon at the Town Point Club in Norfolk on Monday. The students received nearly $20,000 in ACCESS Scholarships. According to the organization, each attending student’s average award is $1,250 a year, renewable annually for up to $1,250 for up to three years.
ACCESS Board Chairman Joan P. Brock, President and CEO Bonnie B. Sutton were joined by staff, supporters, the scholarship recipients and their families. The ACCESS scholars are Jasmine Wynn, Reza Farsi, William Ferris, Courtney Redford, Morgan Sawyer, Ciarra Cortado and Reginald Ford.
ACCESS College Foundation was founded in 1988 by local philanthropists Frank Batten and Joshua P. Darden, Jr. as a vehicle to provide students, who may not have the opportunity, the path to attend and complete college.
