2014 Virginia Sports Hall of Fame Class


PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — The Virginia Sports Hall of Fame will induct seven new members on Saturday night. Friday night, the newest members gathered in Portsmouth for a silent auction.

Hampton Roads is well represented in the 2014 class which includes Ticha Penicheiro, a two-time All-American at Old Dominion who played 15-years in the WNBA.

Latasha Colander-Clark’s credentials include Olympic gold in the 4×400 relay at the Summer Games in Sydney.

Marty Miller is the current Athletic Director at Norfolk State, and he gets in based on his merits as the winningest baseball coach in CIAA history. Miller is a 15-time CIAA coach of the year.

Sports writer David Teel gets his call to the hall for his contributions as an award winning sports writer for the Daily Press.

Other inductees include former University of Virginia and NFL All-Pro Ronde Barber, Former Major League Baseball player Sean Casey and former Emory and Henry football coach Lou Wacker.
