Admirals await top-seeded Manchester in playoffs

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The Admirals are back in the playoffs for the first time since winning the Calder Cup in 2012. Unlike that team though, the Admirals are the 8-seed in the postseason and open the playoffs against the top-seeded Manchester Monarchs.

“It’s a five-game series, it’s a short series, anything could happen,” coach Trent Yawney told the Sportswrap.

The Admirals split the season series with the Monarchs and Max Friberg believes that he and his teammates are a confident group heading into tomorrow’s game in New Hampshire.

“They’re ranked one and we’re 8th, but I don’t the think the difference is that big,” Friberg said. “They of course are the favorites, but I’m sure it will be a tough series and we believe we have a good chance to win.”
