CURRITUCK COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) – North Carolina police have recovered a safe that was stolen from a business in Currituck County in December 2013.
Deputies said the safe was recovered Tuesday in the water off Colington Road in Kill Devil Hills. Crews used the Currituck Sheriff’s Office boat with side scan sonar and were able to locate the safe in about 8 feet of water. Other items of evidence were also recovered.
The recovery comes after an extensive investigation of a break-in at the Currituck BBQ in Barco on December 2, when the safe was stolen.
Three individuals are expected to be charged in connection to the investigation.
