MANASSAS, Va. (AP) — Police say 13 parakeets and six parakeet eggs have been stolen from a Manassas home.

The theft last week is the second parakeet theft in the city in recent months. Police say two parakeets were stolen from another home in December.

Manassas police spokeswoman Adrienne Helm says woman went inside her home on Bragg Lane for about 15 minutes on April 16 and when she came back out, the white wire cage holding the birds and unhatched eggs was gone.

Helm says police are pursuing at least one lead and hope to return the birds to their owner.
