Theft suspects accused of leaving children alone

YORK COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) – Deputies say a couple left their young children home alone as they burglarized a liquor store and took several bottles of liquor last week.

Lt. Dennis Ivey with the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office told deputies responded to a burglary alarm at the ABC store in the 200 block of Village Avenue around 3:30 a.m. April 14. Several bottles of alcohol were taken that were later located by deputies.

Ivey said the two suspects in the burglary, 51-year-old Edward Gregory and 28-year-old Elizabeth Pruitt, left their children home alone while they were out. The children, ages 8, 5 and 3, are okay.

The pair is facing charges including abuse/neglect of children, wearing a mask in public and grand larceny.
