OBX cab driver dies in Norfolk hospital

COLINGTON ISLAND, N.C. (WAVY) – A cab driver found unconscious in a driveway in Dare County last week has died from his injuries, according to family members.

Family members made the announcement on a CaringBridge site in Mark Harvey’s name.

“We are so sorry to report to everyone that has so kindly prayed for Mark and all of us, and expressed such deep concern, that Mark left this world this evening at 7:15 p.m. EST,” the note said. Dale Gauding with Sentara confirmed Harvey’s death to WAVY.com.

Dare County 911 received a call for an unconscious man in a driveway at a home in Colington Harbour April 13. Investigators say Harvey was supposed to pick someone up in the neighborhood near where he was found.

Harvey worked for Atlantic Cab Company and was from Kill Devil Hills.

Deputies still have not said if this was an assault. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Dare County Sheriff’s Office at 252-473-3444.
