Norfolk police chief walks a mile in heels

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — It’s not everyday you see men prancing around in women’s high-heel shoes, but a bunch of local dudes donned pumps in Downtown Norfolk Thursday to bring attention to a serious cause.

Everyone from police officers, fire fighters and local business leaders showed up at an event called “Walk A Mile In Her Shoes.” The goal was to increase awareness of rape, sexual assault and gender-based violence against women.

Money raised at the event was donated to the YWCA of South Hampton Roads.

Among those in heels on Granby street was Norfolk Police Chief Mike Goldsmith, Assistant Chief of Police Ed Ryan, and Officer C. Belliville.
