PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Crews have knocked down a fire that started inside the wall of a Portsmouth home Thursday afternoon.

According to Mick Stockton with the Portsmouth Fire Department, the fire started just before 3 p.m. in the 2500 block of Lansing Avenue. That’s near Elm Avenue and Portsmouth Boulevard.

Stockton said a person was making repairs to a home when the fire started in a wall. The fire marshal is investigating the origin and cause, however, there is no indication the fire was deliberately set.

No one was injured.
