VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – The USS Harry S. Truman makes its way home this week, meaning more than 6,000 Sailors and Marines will be reunited with their families by the weekend.
Wednesday, the Rawhides of Fleet Logistics Support Squadron 40 touched down at Naval Station Norfolk Chambers Field.
More Navy pilots touched down safely Thursday at Naval Air Station Oceana. The “Swordsmen” of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 32 ,the “Ragin’ Bulls” of VFA-37 and the “Gunslingers” of VFA-105 returned home following a nine-month deployment.
The aircraft with Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group flew nearly 40,000 flight hours and participated in exercises to support Operation Enduring Freedom.
