9 fire departments fight blaze at OBX store

Wings store fire in Duck

DUCK, N.C. (WAVY) — Nine fire departments in the Outer Banks worked together to fight a commercial fire Thursday morning.

Around 7:20 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to the Super Wings store at 1188 Duck Road for a report of a fire, according to Christopher Layton, Duck Town Manager.

Upon arrival, crews found heavy smoke showing from the building. Layton said eight other fire departments were called to assist Duck fire crews in containing the flames. No one was injured.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
