HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – Fire crews are investigating the cause of a fire at a vacant home in Hampton early Monday morning.

Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Pereira with the Hampton Fire Division said crews were on scene around 4:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of Lasalle Avenue. Firefighters found a fire coming out of the back of the one-story house and smoke coming from the attic.

It took crews 10 to 15 minutes to extinguish the flames, and no one was injured.

The fire damaged the exterior of the back of the house and the interior rear bedroom.

Pereira said the home had several windows that were boarded up and no electricity. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
