Starting in the 1950s, Bob Doughtie’s hand-pulled pork barbeque grew into a well-loved brand.  He created his secret recipe in the garage of his Churchland home in Portsmouth.  From 1964 to 1982, Doughtie’s Foods, Inc. processed, packaged and sold 7 million pounds of barbecue from a manufacturing plant in the city.
