WASHINGTON (WAVY) – Services were held Friday for a Sailor who died in a shooting at Naval Station Norfolk last month.

The service for Master-at-Arms 2nd Class Mark Mayo was held at Temple of Praise Church in Washington, D.C.

Mayo sacrificed his life when Jeffrey Savage tried to get on USS Mahan in March. Savage was able to disarm a petty officer and fired shots, hitting Mayo. Savage was then killed by security forces.

Officials say interment at Arlington National Cemetery will be determined later.
