NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – TSA agents say they found a loaded handgun with a chambered round at Norfolk International Airport Thursday.
A Virginia Beach man was stopped by agents when the .380 caliber Ruger LCP was spotted by an agent staffing the checkpoint x-ray machine. The gun was in the man’s carry-on and was loaded with six rounds.
Norfolk Airport Authority Police responded and confiscated the gun and ammunition. The man was charged with carrying a concealed weapon on airport property and was allowed to continue to catch his flight to Indianapolis through Charlotte.
Guns are not allowed in carry-on luggage and must be checked in a hard-sided, locked case. Firearms must also be declared with the airline and those with firearms must comply with state laws.
