ERT unable to send transactions to E-ZPass

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Elizabeth River Tunnels is running into more problems when it comes to collecting tolls for drivers going through the Midtown and Downtown tunnels.

The company sent an alert to some customers Thursday, saying the ERT Customer Service Center is unable to send toll transactions to E-ZPass due to IT issues. This means there have been no charges to accounts since April 3 for both tunnels.

In the alert, ERT said the transactions will be processed “in the near future,” and they plan to do it in small batches to minimize the impact on customer accounts.
