NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A man accused of inappropriately touching an elementary school student was found not guilty Wednesday, according to the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office..
William Arney, Sr. was charged with aggravated sexual battery in February after an incident at Bay View Elementary School. Police said Arney was dropping his child off at school when he touched a female student on the buttocks.
Amanda Howie with the Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office said the charge was reduced Wednesday to misdemeanor assault and battery and a trial ensued. The court then found Arney not guilty of the misdemeanor charge and the case was dismissed.
