HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – Twin brothers from Newport News were arrested for two business robberies in Hampton. In both incidents, shots were fired.
Shakeen Northcutt, 21, was arrested Sunday in connection with an October 20 robbery at the Osming Buffet on Nickerson Boulevard. According to investigators, suspects entered the business just before 7:30 p.m. and immediately fired a shot into a wall. They demanded money from the employees, then fled. No one was hurt. Shakeen Northcutt was charged with burglary while armed, five counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, two counts robbery, two counts abduction and one count gang participation.
The Buckroe Beach Market on Buckroe Avenue was robbed the night of October 28 and Rakeen Northcutt is now facing charges in connection with that crime. The investigation revealed suspects entered the business then fired several rounds towards an employee. The employee was not hurt. The suspects ordered the employee to give them money, but investigators say the suspects fled before they got any cash. Detectives tracked down Rakeen on April 6 and placed him under arrest on one count burglary while armed, five counts use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, two counts robbery, two counts abduction, one count shooting into an occupied building, one count wearing a mask in public and one count gang participation.
Shakeen Northcutt and Rakeen Northcutt are both being held at the Hampton Sheriff’s Office.
Two additional suspects, Jaquan Powell and Clinton Mcphail, both of Newport News, had been previously arrested in connection with both of the October incidents, according to police.
