HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — The Department of Veterans Affairs said two patients at the Hampton VA have died during the last 15 years because tests and treatments were delayed.
The findings are part of a national review of delays at VA facilities. The report looked at all consultations across the country since 1999 and identified 76 patients who were affected. Of those patients, 23 died, including the two in Hampton.
The VA said it has redesigned its consultation process to better monitor timeliness and said it continues to work to strengthen oversight.
