Fire damages woods near trailer park

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – No homes were damaged after a woods fire near a Suffolk trailer park Sunday.

Timothy Kelley with the City of Suffolk said crews responded to the fire in the 1100 block of Nansemond Parkway around 3:45 p.m. Fire & Rescue personnel found heavy smoke coming from an area behind a trailer in the Magnolia Lakes Trailer Park. Crews were able to get the fire under control by 4:14 p.m.

Firefighters remained on the scene for more than an hour to wet down the area and put out hot spots.

No one was hurt, and no homes were damaged. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
