TEMPERANCEVILLE, Va. (WAVY) – A man is facing charges after a deadly crash Saturday on the Eastern Shore.
Around 7:46 p.m., troopers were called to the scene of a two-vehicle accident on Route 695 in Temperanceville, west of Route 701. Sgt. Michelle Anaya with Virginia State Police said a Ford Mustang, driven by 46-year-old Ronnie Washington, was headed east on Route 695 when Washington lost control and went into the westbound lanes, hitting a Lexus.
Anaya said the driver of the Lexus was taken to Shore Memorial Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. The passenger in the Lexus, 81-year-old Lenwood Bowen, was taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Maryland due to prior medical conditions.
Washington was also taken to an area hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening. He was later charged with driving under the influence.
Sunday, Anaya said troopers were notified Bowen had died due to injuries sustained in the accident.
It was the second deadly crash Saturday in Temperanceville. A 52-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle accident on Route 13 around 2:50 p.m. Anaya said alcohol and speed were not factors in that crash.
