Family of five displaced after condo fire

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – A family of five was displaced by a fire at a condominium in Chesapeake Saturday.

Captain Scott Saunders with the Chesapeake Fire Department said firefighters responded to the 4000 block of River Breeze Circle, in the Bowers Hill area, at 1:52 p.m. Crews found a bedroom on fire inside a two-story detached condominium when they arrived.

Saunders said the fire was out by 2:14 p.m., and that it was contained to the bedroom. The rest of the home was damaged by smoke.

No one was hurt.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
