NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A dog’s owner has been charged after it bit a man walking along a street in Norfolk Thursday afternoon.

Officer Daniel Hudson with the Norfolk Police Department told WAVY.com officers received a report of a dog bite around 12:30 p.m. Animal Control officers and fire department personnel responded to the scene and found a man who said the dog bit him in the shoulder while he was walking in the 2700 block of Mapleton Avenue.

According to the owner, the dog was accidentally let out of the house.

WAVY.com asked Hudson what breed the dog was, and he said it was a pit bull mix, but did not say what other breed the dog was mixed with.

The man was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Hudson said the owner was charged with no dog license and no/expired rabies license.
