VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – A Virginia Beach man has died after a motorcycle crash with a sedan Wednesday afternoon.
Around 12:40 p.m., emergency dispatchers received a 911 call about a car and motorcycle crash in the 66000 block of Indian River Road, according to Lonnie Cain with the Virginia Beach Police Department. Emergency crews responded and found 52-year-old James Michael Bognar suffering from life-threatening injuries.
Bognar was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Cain said a preliminary investigation revealed Bognar was traveling north on a motorcycle when a second vehicle, a sedan, pulled out of Sandra Lane in front of him. The motorcycle struck the sedan, causing Bognar to be ejected from his vehicle.
Charges are currently pending against the sedan’s driver.
Another completely unrelated motorcycle crash involving another vehicle occurred in Virginia Beach on Wednesday. Dispatchers told WAVY.com the crash occurred around 8:45 a.m. in the 1300 block of Diamond Springs Road. One person was transported to a local hospital, but further information was not released.
