NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Police have charged a man in the investigation of Monday night’s shooting involving city council candidate Teunsha Vick, cousin of NFL quarterback Michael Vick.
Antonio J. Crews, 25, of the 600 block of Aqua Vista Drive was arrested Wednesday at his home around 12:40 p.m. and charged with reckless handling of a firearm, discharging a firearm in public and shooting into an occupied vehicle, according to Holly McPherson with Newport News Police.
Investigators say they believe Vick was not the target of the shooting, that she was caught in the crossfire of a shooting incident that began on nearby Aqua Vista Drive.
Holly said the investigation revealed a 22-year-old man was shot in the 600 block of Aqua Vista Drive, and Crews, who is a friend of the victim, chased after the shooter. Once on Ivy Avenue, Crews heard gunfire and shot his firearm.
Police continue to investigate the shooting of the 22-year-old man and ask that anyone with information to please call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
