(WAVY) — Service has been completely restored to Verizon customers who experienced difficulty reaching 911 Friday afternoon.
Verizon experienced sporadic network outages on Knotts Island, N.C., but Mary Beth Newns with Currituck County Emergency Management said service was restored before 6:30 p.m. During the outage, customers were instructed to call the Currituck County Communications Administrative line at 252-232-2216.
Customers on the Eastern Shore also experienced issues Friday, but only with Verison’s wireless 911 lines. ESVA 911 Center Director Authority Jeff Flournoy told WAVY.com the problem was corrected and the lines are fully functional.
During the issues on the Eastern Shore, customers were instructed to use a landline phone to call 911 or dial the following numbers on any phone: 757-787-0911, 757-824-0911, 757-442-0911.
