NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – You’ve heard the expression that lightning never strikes twice. That still holds true for a very lucky Portsmouth couple – it actually struck three times for them!
Calvin and Zatera Spencer won two $1 million lottery prizes and another $50,000 in winnings.
Their lucky streak began March 12 when the couple won $1 million in the Powerball drawing. Exactly two weeks later, Calvin won $50,000 playing the Virginia Lottery Pick 4 game. He had ten tickets with the winning combination of 6-6-6-6.
The very next day, Calvin stopped at the 7-Eleven at 100 West 21st Street in Norfolk and bought a Virginia Lottery Scratcher ticket and won another $1 million prize.
The last game he played was the $100 Million Cash Extravaganza, which has prizes ranging from $20 to $4 million. The Spencers’ win is the first $1 million prize claimed, which means three $1 million dollar tickets remain unclaimed.
“We’re not finished yet,” he told lottery officials.
