Two injured in Portsmouth shooting

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Two men were injured in a shooting and Portsmouth Police are asking for help with the investigation.

Det. Misty Holley with the Portsmouth Police Department said officers were dispatched to the 2500 block of Byrd Lane for a report of shots fired just before 10:30 p.m. Minutes after receiving that call, officers were alerted to a 23-year-old man in the emergency room at Maryview Hospital with injuries consistent with being shot.

About 15 minutes later, officers were called to the intersection of Victory Boulevard and Deep Creek Boulevard to assist another 23-year-old man who had been shot.

Holley told WAVY.com both victims were taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives have determined both victims were injured during the same event on Byrd Lane.
