NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Hundreds of customers in Norfolk experienced an interruption to their natural gas service Wednesday evening, and service restoration continued Thursday.

Virginia Natural Gas spokesman Duane Bourne confirmed about 700 customers near Granby Street, between Willow Wood Drive and Filbert Street, were affected.

Thursday, Bourne said Virginia Natural Gas employees had worked through the night to complete repairs to the pipeline system. Crews were reactivating service to customers’ homes, and would need to wait for customers to be present in order to do so. Bourne said they expected to complete the process by Thursday evening.

The cause of the service interruption is not known at this time. Stay with WAVY.com for updates on this developing story.
