VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – A 57-year-old Norfolk man was charged with two bank robberies less than 12 hours after they occurred Tuesday.
Frederick Charles Witt was charged with robbery and attempted robbery.
MPO Tonya Borman with the Virginia Beach Police Department said the first incident occurred at the BB&T Bank at 2993 Shore Dr. just before 10 a.m. Originally police said it was a robbery, but later said it was an attempted robbery.
The suspect was described as a white male between 30 and 40 standing 5’9” and weighing about 175 pounds. He has dark hair, mustache and was wearing a pinstripe suit jacket and pants at the time of the robbery.
Borman said the suspect may be driving a dark Jeep 4-door SUV.
The second robbery occurred just half an hour later at the Wells Fargo at 2821 Shore Dr. The suspect was able to get away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
He was also described as a white male between 30 and 40.
Borman said Wednesday Witt was arrested at his home within 10 hours of the second robbery.
