PD: Boy was hit with belt and extension cord

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – A 35-year-old man is facing child abuse charges after a child was found with red marks on his body Sunday.

Holly McPherson with the Newport News Police Department told WAVY.com officers responded to the first block of Ivy Farms Road around 11:50 a.m. for a report of child abuse.

There, they found a 9-year-old boy with red marks on both arms, chest and back. Another child did not have any injuries.

McPherson said the injuries were consistent with being hit with a belt and extension cord.

Frederick Taylor was arrested and charged with child abuse and assault on a family member.
