PASQUOTANK COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) – A 42-year-old man is behind bars on charges he had been assaulting a woman since November.
Thursday, the victim told investigators Richard Akers, Jr. had assaulted her beginning in the early part of November. Throughout the course of the investigation, it was learned Akers had physical assaulted the victim and pointed a gun at her, threatening her, according to the Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office.
Warrants were obtained and Akers was taken into custody. He has been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, assault by pointing a gun, five counts of second degree kidnapping, 13 counts of assault on a female and six counts of communication threats.
He was place into jail on an $82,000 bond. Deputies say several firearms and ammunition was seized at the home Akers was arrested.
