Prosecution rests in quadruple murder trial

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – The prosecution has rested in the trial of a man accused of brutally killing his wife and her three children.

10 On Your Side has learned Commonwealth’s Attorney Howard Gynn has rested in the John Ragin trial and the jury will return Tuesday at 10 a.m. to hear the defense, Attorney Steven Givando, bring his side of the case.

Ragin is charged with killing his wife Crystal Ragin and her children in Newport News, all before trying to burn their house down on Aug. 18, 2011.

The trial is expected to last about a month. If convicted, Ragin could face the death penalty.
