Pet rescued from Norfolk apartment fire

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A pet was rescued from an apartment fire in Norfolk Friday night.

Battalion Chief Julian Williamson with Norfolk Fire-Rescue said crews were called to apartments located in the 800 block of Graydon Avenue at 10:18 p.m. Firefighters saw flames coming from the exterior of the second or third floor when they arrived.

Williamson said one pet was rescued, and there were no reports of injuries.

There are approximately four apartment units in the building, according to fire officials. Williamson said utilities were shut off to the building and the Red Cross was called to the scene.

No information was released about the cause of the fire.
