Four charged in IOW church thefts

ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) – Four people have been charged in connection to the thefts of air conditioning units at churches in Isle of Wight County.

Kristin Wilda with Isle of Wight C ounty said the following suspects were arrested Sunday:

  •  John Anthony Edwards, 29
    • Four counts grand larceny, four counts possession of stolen property with intent to sell
  •  Amy Christine Spencer, 35
    • Three counts grand larceny, three counts possession of stolen property with intent to sell
  •  Jason Eric Sawyer, 36
    • Three counts grand larceny, three counts possession of stolen property with intent to sell
  •  Jennifer Lynn Gibson, 31
    • Four counts possession of stolen property with intent to sell

All four suspects lived in the 8900 block of Colonial Trail in Surry County at the time of the thefts.

The four are charged in the thefts of units and copper drain pipes from Union Bethel AME Church in Smithfield, Mill Swamp Baptist Church in Ivor, Bethany United Methodist Church and the Moonlight Hunt Club.
