NN home condemned after fire

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – Newport News fire crews were called to a home along Marshall Avenue Monday morning.

Battalion Chief Jack Carper with the Newport News Fire Department told WAVY.com the fire sparked in the 3200 block of Marshall Avenue around 8:15 a.m.  When crews arrived, they found heavy fire coming from the front of the two-story home.

The fire was declared under control before 9 a.m. and the cause remains under investigation at this time.

No one was home at the time of the fire. Two adults were displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
