NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A Norfolk man was arrested Friday in connection to a series of commercial burglaries committed in 16 jurisdictions spanning from Northern Virginia to Atlanta, Ga.

After a yearlong investigation of more than 60 burglaries, the Virginia Beach Police Department and multiple other jurisdictions conducted a search warrant in the 2800 block of Saint Mihiel Avenue, said Officer Lonnie Cain with the VBPD.

Nearly $100,000 worth of merchandise was recovered and 30-year-old Ronney Latrell Riddick was arrested and charged with five counts each of commercial breaking and entering, grand larceny, conspiracy and burglary tools.

Cain said Riddick burglarized commercial buildings between February 2013 and March 2014, including Alcohol Beverage Control stores and various Beauty Supply chains. He said a James City County Police Department crime analyst developed leads that helped focus the attention of the investigation on Riddick.

“Riddick’s arrest reflects the dedication and professionalism of the Virginia Beach Police Department, Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, James City County Police Department, Chesterfield Police Department, and other jurisdictions,” Cain said.

The case continues to be investigated with Virginia Beach Police Detective Alison Fletcher and Chesterfield Police Detective Brent Storey as lead investigators.

Riddick is being held at the Virginia Beach Correctional Facility with a no bond for a total of 20 felony charges.
