HERTFORD, N.C. (WAVY) – Three houses were involved in a fire overnight in Hertford.
Fire Chief Robert Reed told WAVY.com the fire sparked before 3 a.m. in the 400 block of West King Street. It burned two houses and damaged a third.
Reed said it took about two hours to get the fire under control. Crews received mutual aid from Elizabeth City, Bethel and Winfall fire departments.
No one was hurt. No one lived in the two main houses. Reed said there were people in the third who will be temporarily displaced until an electrician can check it over.
The cause is undetermined at this time and the police department is investigating.
