NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – A Pit Bull attacked a 6-year-old girl over the weekend in Newport News and will have to be put down.
Kim Lee with the City of Newport News told WAVY.com the incident happened Sunday around 4:30 p.m. in the 12800 block of Tahiska Lane.
The dog’s owner surrendered the dog to animal control Wednesday and will not face any charges. Lee said the dog was going to be put down.
Officials say the dog’s rabies vaccine expired in February. The health department will be contacted to see if the dog will have to be tested for rabies or if the shot was still valid.
Further information on the incident was not immediately available.
