Flames ravage Suffolk home, 7 residents displaced

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Fire-rescue crews battled flames that destroyed a Suffolk residence Thursday afternoon.

Emergency dispatchers received a 911 call about a structure fire in the 1400 block of Pinto Court around 3:30 p.m., according to Tim Kelly with the Suffolk Fire Department. When fire-rescue personnel arrived at the scene, they found heavy smoke and fire coming from a one-story house.

The fire was declared under control at 4:22 p.m., and no one was injured.

Damage to the home was so extensive, four adults and three children have been displaced. They will receive help from the American Red Cross, Kelly said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Suffolk Fire Marshal’s Office.
