Suspects rack up thousands on stolen cards

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – Police need help identifying two women who reportedly stole a woman’s wallet and used her credit cards more than a month ago.

Harold Eley with the Newport News Police Department said the incident occurred Feb. 3 between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. at the Trader Joes in Newport News. The victim was approached by a woman and was engaged in conversation about ingredients.

When the victim went to pay for her items, her wallet was gone.

Two suspects used her credit cards at a Best Buy and a Target the same day to rack up several thousand dollars in purchases.

The suspects were captured on surveillance at the Target. Anyone who recognizes them is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
