Spartans avoid collapse, survive UMES in MEAC first round

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVYA blowout became a survival win for the Norfolk State men’s basketball game on Monday Night. Leading by 17 at halftime over the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore, the Spartans were outscored by 13 in the second half, but hung on for a 78-74 win in the first round of the MEAC tournament.

Pendarvis Williams lead the charge with 22 points, while teammate Maclolm Hawkins provided 17 points in the effort. NSU has to wait until Thursday before playing its second-round game.
