Tribe erase big deficit, beat Col. of Charleston 70-59

BALTIMORE, Md. (WAVY) – For a long while, it looked like the season was headed to a close for the College of William and Mary. Yet, when the final horn sounded, the scoreboard read a William and Mary 70-59 win over the College of Charleston in the first round of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament.

The Tribe (19-11) trailed 38-23 with 1:19 left to play in the first half, but saw big bucket after big bucket scored by senior guard Brandon Britt and junior guard Marcus Thornton, who scored 16 points each.

William and Mary made only one three point bucket to Charleston’s 6 in the first half. They hit 5 in the second half, and shut out Charleston from behind the arc.

With the win, William and Mary advances has yet another chance to take down Towson, who swept William and Mary over the regular season. Towson and William and Mary play at 5:00 pm on Sunday.
