SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A Suffolk police officer responding to a call was involved in a crash Sunday near the intersection of Suburban Drive and Portsmouth Boulevard.

Diana Klink with the City of Suffolk said three vehicles were involved in the collision at 4:38 p.m.

Klink said one of the vehicles in the crash was driven by a 71-year-old woman, who was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries. Another driver involved in the crash was not hurt.

The police officer was taken to Sentara Obici Hospital for treatment, and was released.

Klink said it appears the officer had his emergency equipment activated and was responding to a call when the crash happened. The accident remains under investigation.
