WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WAVY) — The Williamsburg Police Department says it determined the alleged sexual assault of a three-year-old girl was unfounded.
March 5 around 3:40 p.m., officers responded to the Riverside Doctor’s Hospital near the intersection of Route 60 and Route 199 for a reported sexual assault victim, according to Major Greg Riley with the Williamsburg Police Department.
Riley said the child has been placed in a safe environment by human services.
On March 10, Major Riley provided an update and said the investigation determined a sexual assault never occurred. He did not say why the hospital originally thought it did.
