NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Thursday is senior night for Hampton Roads’ local MEAC schools. In Norfolk, the Norfolk State Spartans play their last home game of the season, and it will be the final game at Joe Echols Hall for Pendarvis Williams, Brandon Goode, Malcolm Hawkins, Riley Maye and Anell Alexis.
The class is the most successful in NSU Division I history. The Spartans host league-leading North Carolina Central.
Across the water, the Hampton University Pirates close out their regular season at the Convocation Center against North Carolina A&T.
It will be the last home game for Du’Vaughn Maxwell and Ramon Mercado.
“It’s a big night, we’re losing Du’Vaughn Maxwell,” head coach Ed Joyner told the Sportswrap.
“We felt like he was real instrumental in rebuilding our program from the last championship a few years ago and Ramon Mercado was important in that, too. We want to send them out right,” Joyner said.
Following tomorrow’s games, NSU and HU will get ready for the MEAC tournament at Norfolk Scope.
