VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Sunday kicked off MS Awareness Week, and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Central & Eastern Virginia Chapter hosted a “Flag Down MS” event to raise awareness.

Staff and volunteers placed 3,000 orange flags outside of Thalia Lynn Baptist Church on Virginia Beach Boulevard in Virginia Beach to help bring attention an understanding about the autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system.

Robyn Hirsch, Communications/Marketing Director for the local chapter told WAVY.com, the flags represent the number of people living with MS in the Hampton Roads area.

You can help the organization continue to raise awareness by participating in the walks scheduled for April in Newport News, Virginia Beach and Richmond. Click here for more information.
