Crews out in Suffolk treating icy roads

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — More snow and icy roads made the evening commute tricky for drivers Wednesday.

In Suffolk, WAVY News’ Jason Marks reported road conditions had gotten worse by 6 p.m., as the snowfall started to pick up.

On Interstate 664 near the Monitor Merrimac Memorial Bridge Tunnel, plow trucks were having a tough time keeping up with the snowfall, but crews could be seen putting down salt and sand. Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews said they would be keeping an eye on the temperatures, as they were concerned about roads re-freezing.
